According to a recent survey, many employees feel meetings are beneficial, but this does not imply they are entirely attentive when one is taking place. According to one research, 61% of employees feel meetings are helpful, while 39% say meetings are mere “showpieces for management.”

Meetings, according to 74% of respondents, make it simpler to make choices. Another 71% believe meetings are excellent for networking, and another 71% believe meetings provide answers that fulfill the requirements of everyone in attendance.

Employees, on the other hand, dislike meetings because they attend too many of them (69%), according to the survey. Others stated that they need to work longer hours due to too many meetings (61%), and that they are weary and demotivated after meetings (59%).

Meetings aren’t exactly new in the workplace, but they’ve grown in popularity as a result of the pandemic, with more online meetings appearing and dominating as a result of lockdowns and distance laws.

According to the research, 68% of employees spend four to ten hours per week in meetings, with 39% observing that the meetings they attend are becoming longer.

This may not be the case for workers, as almost half of those polled stated that 20 to 30 minutes is sufficient time for a person to lose concentration and cease listening.

So, what comes next? 75% of employees acknowledged doing anything else to pass the time during meetings. They revealed that they spend their time by doing the following:

  • Internet news reading (39%).
  • Visit social networking sites (38%).
  • (38%), read a book
  • Online shopping (35%).
  • Begin a texting chat with a friend (32%).
  • Online/mobile gaming (31%).
  • Perform other job-related responsibilities (28%).
  • Doodle or draw (27%).
